Inspired by his grandmother's stories, Call of the Jab follows Joshua across two timelines: Young Joshua journeys to Grenada with his father to visit his grandmother for the very first time. Years later, now grown, he returns to the island with his father, retracing the steps of his past. One warm evening, young Joshua asks his grandmother about the Jab Jab. He later encounters the legendary folkloric masquerader in the sugarcane fields behind her home and flees in fear.  With the help of his father, adult Joshua retraces his steps on the island, in search of the Jab Jab he encountered as a child over twenty-five years ago. His journey leads him beneath the sea to Grenada's Coral Carnival, where submerged sculptures and ancestral folklore merge, bringing to life the stories that shaped him.
