Through laughter and derision, PROJECT H questions very seriously the catastrophic human and social situation of Haiti, American imperialism and the ability of countries under domination to take control of their destiny. The film is also a small tribute to our elders and to the place they now occupy in our modern societies. Beyond the different themes and questions it raises, PROJECT H plunges us into creative madness and awakens “the mobilizing utopia”. It’s a film that reminds us both in substance and form that in order to achieve great things, we must aim for the impossible. Finally, PROJECT H is in line with DIG IT, my end-of-study short film in film school, both inspired by a joke: a nod to the Caribbean imagination, this fine observer of our societies, this free expression of our deep resilience and our ability to laugh at ourselves.
