Morosini wrote, directed and stars opposite Patton Oswalt, Claudia Sulewski, Rachel Dratch and Lil Rel Howery in his critically acclaimed, award-winning sophomore film I LOVE MY DAD which Magnolia Pictures debuted in theaters. I LOVE MY DAD had its World Premiere at SXSW 2022 to incredible praise from both fans and critics alike, winning both the Narrative Feature Grand Jury Award AND Audience Award. The film has been hailed a “triumph” with Morosini’s “utter fearlessness” and “boldness” at the forefront. With sold-out crowds at every screening, the film continued its festival circuit winning awards across the country and the world. Prior to filming, Morosini’s screenplay was selected from 2,300 entries as the Grand Prize Winner of Screencraft's Screenplay Competition. His latest screenplay, POP, was featured on this year's 2022 Blacklist, a collection of the most liked screenplays of the year.
His micro-budget feature THREESOMETHING (2018), which he also wrote, directed, produced, edited and starred in follows two hypersensitive friends who try to bond by arranging a threesome. Along with writing and directing, James has had major acting roles in AMERICAN HORROR STORY, FEUD, LETHAL WEAPON, and most recently on Mindy Kaling’s THE SEX LIVES OF COLLEGE GIRLS for HBO.
A multi-hyphenate in every sense, with his sophistication as filmmaker and actor, Morosini continues crafting stories with spectacle and heart, with a number of studio projects in various stages of development, soon to be announced. Originally from Boston, Morosini studied film and theater at USC where he currently teaches as an adjunct professor.
