48 Hour BIFF Film Competition
Objective:
The 48 Hour Film Competition is an event hosted by Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) to bring the opportunity to both novice and professional Bahamians to put their skills to the test and complete a 3-5 minute short film in 48 hours.
Date(s): November 22nd - 24th, 2019
Friday, November 22, to register, a quick workshop on How To Survive A 48 Hour Film Competition for all registered competitors at The Current Art Gallery at 6:30pm followed by a Kick Off
General Layout:
Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) will be creating a practical and fun way for all to get involved in the world of film, with the 48 Hour Film Competition providing all backgrounds a chance to participate in a competition. Come and be a part of a valuable experience!
- Experienced, intermediate and novice filmmakers will be given until November 15th to register individually or as a group to allow for proper preparation for the competition.
- Entry Fee to compete - $15.00 per person
➢ There is no charge for schools who have pre registered
- Kick-Off at 7:30 PM sharp.
➢ Instructions for the Challenge will be given at Kick-Off along with the mandatory list of items that must be in the film.

- All teams must deliver completed films by Sunday, November 24th at 7:30 PM, exported, and turned in at The Current Art Gallery on a flash drive/Blu-ray. Any filmed turned in at 7:31 PM or later is considered late. Late films are still eligible for screening and exempt from winning any awards.
- The short film is up to the team and there will be rules such as no illegal activity, no use of illegal objects and any content that is objectionable by BIFF.
- After the Competition, films will be reviewed and scored. Films that adhere to the required criteria will be scored higher, no matter the quality of the overall product. Nominations will be applied to eligible films.
Screening at BIFF:
Once films are reviewed and scored, there will be an initial screening of the films and announcement of the nominations. After the initial screening, the nominated films will be shown at the end of BIFF and the winning films will receive their various awards such as: Best Directing, Best Cinematography, Best Acting, Best Editing, Best Sound Design, Best Use of (Sponsored) Item, Best Use of Location, Best of the Fest, Audience Choice (Voted on by Audience)
