Writers Residency Program

Writers’ Residency Program  /  DECEMBER 9 - 11

Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) connects emerging TV & Film writers with the best industry professionals in an intimate setting in Nassau, Bahamas, December 9 to December 11. Writers will receive first hand knowledge and build lasting relationships with field experts at the intense Writers Residency Program.

“I’ve been to a lot of festivals and involved in many writing workshops but this one is by far the best. The mentors are not only willing to give their undivided attention and expertise during the workshop but long afterwards too. If you are an aspiring screenwriter this is the best of the bunch”.

“BIFF takes screenwriting and screenwriters seriously.  To be selected as a participant in the writers' residency is a validation in and of itself.  In addition, the work of the residency -- reading writers' work, giving notes, meeting working screenwriters, networking with industry executives and watching films from around the world -- is added value for a select group of writers on the cusp of success.  Not to mention this all takes place in the Bahamas -- sun, sea, and the island vibe.  It's a great program for all involved.” Nate Kohn (The University of Georgia), (The George Foster Peabody Awards)

Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) is a nonprofit organization committed to providing the local community as well as international festival attendees with a diverse presentation of films from not only The Bahamas but also around the world. In addition to showcasing films that might not be available for conventional release, BIFF provides unique cultural experiences, educational programs, and forums for exploring the past, present & future of cinema.

Writers for the Program have been selected for 2019.

“BIFF Nurtures not only the creative process but the human spirit. The Mentors invest in each writer with their time, energy and focus. It’s a daring thing that people do called writing. The mentors understand and welcome that with a generosity toward every writer. They spark a supportive dialogue that can help the story sing.” Susan Batten

" Since the launch of the BIFF Screenwriters Residency Program in 2005, it is an important component to BIFF and the flourishing filmmaking industry around the world.
