BAHAMAS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
MovieMaker Magazine Singles out Bahamas International Film Festival as one of the 25 Coolest Film Festivals in the World in Current Summer 2018 Issue on Stands Now
Once again the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) can boast that it is one of the 25 Coolest Film Festival in the World by MovieMarker Magazine an extraordinary accomplishment. Out of ten thousand film festivals in 2015 and 2018, BIFF is ranked in the top 25.
Over the 15 years of its existence, BIFF has served as a doorway to careers in the film industry for Bahamians and international film professionals while earning a place for The Bahamas on the industry’s calendar of events.
At BIFF thousands of students have participated in a program called the BIFF Youth Film Workshop. Additional accolades have come from US presidential candidate and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, who recognized BIFF as being an event that raises social consciousness and listers Ben Lyons and Naomie Harris, who have recognized BIFF in red cap ìnterviews at the Academy Awards.
BIFF provides international exposure to The Bahamas not only through the thousands of films showcase but has hosted the top in showbiz and celebrities who participate and engage with festival goers. Its list of celebrities include Johnny Depp, Grace Jones, Debra Messing, Nicholas Cage, Daryl Hannah, Laurence Fishburne, Sir Sean Connery, Danny Glover, Alan Arkin, Michael K. Williams, Heather Graham, Sydney T. Poitier, Rae Dawn Chong, Roger Corman and more.
BIFF has been proud to have Golden Globes, Academy Award winners & nomines from companies like A24, Magnolia, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Simon West Productions, Source Management, Weinstein Company, Netflix and many more have been mixed into the thousands of films from 150 countries.
BIFF venues have been described by attends as sublime, showing films under the stars, pool and beach side and at state of the art facilities at the Baha Mar Resort and Casino, Hope Town, Harbour Island and Paradise Island.
BIFF is a fixture in the social fabric of our country generating of over $20 Mil in PR value and advertisement value of more than $5 Mil over 14 years.
The fifteenth annual festival will take place in Nassau from November 28 to December 2 and travel to Hope Town, in the Abaco Islands for a continuation of this year's celebration for the Screenwriters Residency Program for the Best of the Fest Hope Town, Abaco. During its visit to Hope Town a full program of films and festivities will be offered for the enjoyment of visiting Filmmakers, guests and local residents. Hope Town, Abaco is the third of the Family Islands to be included as a part of the Bahamas International Film Festival annual event.
