Death On A Rock  USA / 2015 / 82 mins

DEATH ON A ROCK is the third film by award-winning director, Scott Ballard (A STANDING STILL, WELCOMING DEPARTURE). This latest feature follows a young woman coming to terms with a trying event in her life. Lillian’s (Rachael Perrell Fosket - Winner Best Actress, 2015 LA Indie Film Fest, Winner Best Actress, 2016 Portsmouth Int. Film Festival) bright outlook—she loves her job in a flower shop and has a sweet budding relationship with her boyfriend— is rocked by illness. Days spent in long term care at the hospital bring reflection, desperation, and some family tension. This vibrantly shot tale follows Lillian’s year of happiness, pain, and growth, told through flashbacks and drifting between memories and shifting consciousness. Seen through  a framework of loss, Death On A Rock is a bittersweet tale balanced between tragedy and levity.

The film was shot in and around Portland, Oregon and Bellingham, Washington and stars Rachael Perrell-Fosket (How The Fire Fell) along with Joe Von Appen (Lost Division, The Curio) Sara Robbin (A Standing Still), Brighid Thomas (The Perception of Moving Targets), Erin McGarry (The Weather Outside/Portlandia) and Katy Beckemeyer (C.O.G.), and Dicky Dahl (The Curio). It has won BEST NARRATIVE FEATURE at the 2016 Ozark Foothills Film Fest, BEST FEATURE at the 2016 Boise Film Fest, BEST ACTRESS & BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY at the 2016 Portsmouth International Film Fest, BEST ACTRESS & BEST ENSEMBLE at the 2015 LA Indie Film Fest, BEST FEMALE ROLE at the 2015 Philadelphia Independent Film Festival, GRAND JURY PRIZE BEST FEATURE at the 2015 Columbia Gorge Film Festival, and BEST EDITING at the 2015 Southampton International Film Festival.
