"Habibi" is a modern retelling of the romance 'Majnun
Layla.' In seventh century Arabia, a poet named Qays fell in love with Layla. Because of the intensity of his passion, he was called, ‘Majnun Layla,’ which translates as ‘madman for Layla.’ The film features Majnun Layla’s poems. "Habibi" is the only Palestinian film release of 2011.
