Benjai Concert

Mr. Rodney Le Blanc was born in the twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago on the 22 nd March 1976 and grew in the Malabar area. As a youngster, Benjai’s love of the craft began as he frequentlyparticipated in sound clashes with other youths in his community. It was here he perfected his ability to freestyle his lyrics and in 2002, this exposure lead Rodney to record his first single, “Over and Over” which was an instant hit.

In 2004 he continue d his journey with the band “Bunji Garlin and the A sylum ” were he stayed until he move to the home of the HD family with Machel Montano in 2006. As a member of this unit, he toured North America and Europe. Although his partnership with the band formally ended in 2008, the love of the music has forged a life long friendship between Benjai and members of the HD family.

This sought after soca/ragga entertainer has performed extensively throughout the Caribbean and has graced many international stages, commanding audiences in the thousands with his music and his vey unique style of performing. He also has a huge following here at home and has been a threat to many others in the finals of this country’s International Soca Monarch Competition.

In 2011 he captured the 2 nd place in the groovy genre of this competition with the ever- popular hit “Trini”, and also nabbed the “Young Kings” title for that year. Additionally, he placed second in the Road March Competition. His second offering for that year was “Wine to the side”, which was also a popular party tune.

This hit maker has had such hits as “Carnival come again”, “Tanty Say”, “Amnesty” , “People’s Champion” , ” Feter ” , ” Engoma ” and the globally appreciated

Benjai, a seasoned entertainer, celebrated his ten year anniversary as a true professional, having successfully been a member of two of this country’s premiere bands and also having had a very productive and advancing solo career.

He approaches the 2017 carnival season with his usual swagger and has already had very good responses to his new music. Benjai always credits his success to a firm belief in God, along with the support of his two children and his family.
