Goes Island Hopping to Hope Town, Abaco in The Bahamas
December 2 - 6, 2018



Hope Town, The Abacos, Bahamas, 21 August, 2018 Immediately following it's fifteenth annual festival scheduled for November 28 to December 6, 2018 the Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) will travel to a lovely island in the Abaco Islands for a continuation of this year's celebration. The Screenwriters Residency Program and the Best of the Fest aspect of the festival will take place in Hope Town.

 

During its visit to Hope Town a full program of films and festivities will be offered for the enjoyment of visiting filmmakers, guests and local residents. Hope Town, Abaco is the third of the Family Islands to be included as a part of the Bahamas International Film Festival’s annual event.
 
The schedule of events to be held December 2 – 6, in Hope Town includes:

  • Welcome Reception and a star studded film at Hope Town Harbour Lodge
  • Screenwriters Workshops, Panel discussions and Master Classes with visiting filmmakers
  • Evening movies at Hope Town Inn and Marina; Sea Spray Resort
  • Closing Night Film and Party 

BIFF provides international exposure to The Bahamas not only through film showcases but has hosted a broad number of celebrities who participate and engage with festivalgoers. Its list of renown celebrities include Johnny Depp, Grace Jones, Debra Messing, Nicholas Cage, Daryl Hannah, Laurence Fishburne, Sir Sean Connery, Danny Glover, Alan Arkin, Zoe Saldana, Michael K. Williams, Rae Dawn Chong, Heather Graham, Zoe Kravitz, Sydney T. Poitier, Roger Corman and more.

Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) aims to connect emerging writers with industry professionals in an intimate setting in Hope Town, a picturesque Bahamian town in the Abaco Islands allowing writers to receive first-hand knowledge as well as establish lasting relationships with field experts.

The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF) will offer four fortunate pre-selected applicants the valuable opportunity of attending a complimentary intense mentorship this December 2-6, 2018.

Celebrating its fifteenth anniversary this year, the internationally established festival will continue its outreach to filmmakers and screenwriters who aspire to make a career in cinema. The mentoring facet of the festival will take place in picturesque Hope Town, in the Abacos.

Additional Sponsors of the program is Aliv and University Of Georgia. A cash prize will be awarded to the winners of the best feature and TV script. This has been generously contributed by Jib Polhemus of Source |Management & Production. Entrance There will be a nominal participation fee of $110.00 and the deadline for entering is September 30. Two writers will be selected for features and two for TV scripts.

Up to 10 participants will be selected for tuition (five TV and five feature). Tuition $1500 (flight not included) Mentors:

  • Nate Kohn |Producer-Writer (Bayou Maharajah, Rain, Zulu Dawn)

After the announcement of four winners in September, BIFF will accept applications for ten additional screenwriters to join us for the full price of tuition: $1,500. A non-refundable deposit of $500 will be required to reserve a spot, for selected participants.
